A killer smile? And of course, an ego the size of a state? Often wears sunglasses to mass his odd red on black eyes, which are the only feature marking him as a mutant. Raised in De' Big Easy, he also was quite an accent. He is an accomplished thief and member of the New Orleans Thieves Guild. [Powers/Abilities] Gambit generates an inner-kinetic power that gives him the ability to change the potential energy of an inorganic object into kinetic energy, "charging it," if you will. The transfer creates a garish pinkish glow around the object and usually causes it to explode upon contact with another surface (or after an extended period of time). This inner-kinetic energy gives him an amazing spatial sense as well as heightened agility and reflexes. This internal energy also makes it difficult to detect his mind and gives telepaths difficulty in reading his thoughts. It can be done, but usually not without some real effort. There has been some evidence that his ability has been surgically and perhaps genetically tampered with. As such, he is unable to access his full range of abilities. It is unknown as to whether or not they will manifest. In addition, he possesses a subtle hypnotic charm ability that often compels people to believe what he says and agree with his suggestions. This ability becomes less effective once a person is aware of it, however. [History] Abandoned as an infant and left in an orphanage, the young boy soon left the convent and roamed the streets. At a young age, Remy was adopted by Jean Luc Lebeau - patriarch of the New Orleans Thieves Guild. He was taught the family business at a young age and has since been titled the "Prince of Thieves" through his impressive reputation in the guild and even after his association with it ended. Once betrothed to his childhood sweetheart Belladonna Boudreaux – the daughter of the patriarch of the Assassin’s Guild, his marriage would have stopped the rivalry between the two guilds. Unfortunately, this match was not to past, due to circumstances beyond his control. With the death of Julien Boudreaux, Bella's brother, Remy was exiled from New Orleans. He has since left the guild (although not entirely of his own choice)to work as a freelance thief which began his long association with the mutant known as The Courier. At some point, Gambit was hired by a man known as Sinister after acquiring a great debt to him. It was in Sinister's service for a number of years. After the notorious Morlock Massacre incident (which he was partly responsible for), Remy left the employ of Sinister by playing dead, literally. While avoiding his less scrupulous former employer, he was contacted by Charles Xavier and now stays on at the Institute. Although while he refuses to be an X-Man in name for the moment, he does help out when the need arises. [Personality] He is a ladies man to the core. Suave. Flirty. And definitely charming, he always knows how to get what he wants, when he wants it. Remy is highly secretive, and not above lying when it suits his purposes. He seems especially close-lipped about his past, especially about the time since his leaving the guild. He is a person who blames himself for all his past mistakes, laying guilt upon himself, although outwardly he is cocky and often deliberately vexing. He enjoys getting a rise of out people. Often a rebel, he likes to bend the rules as much as possible and often happens to get out of just as much trouble.
